Our Journey: How we got to where we are today

We are extremely excited about the remarkable attributes of Gii, and our strategic roadmap for more than a dozen markets will surely keep us engaged for several decades to come.

About Us

As an organisation, we are driven to make a positive impact on global challenges. Our focus lies in developing next generation technology to drive a more sustainable economy: from making health measurable globally at the point of need to removing batteries from landfill with advanced supercapacitors, we can identify areas of improvement and strive to create impact across a variety of industries.

To achieve this goal, we have invented, patented, and commercialised a revolutionary design for manufacture process to produce a high-performing pure, three-dimensional, carbon-based nanomaterial, Gii.

By harnessing the unique properties of Gii and leveraging extensive product development and integration expertise, Integrated Graphene (IG), in partnership with our business partners, enables the development of cutting-edge products.

We have removed the three key challenges of state-of-the-art graphene manufacture: high temperature, high vacuum and transfer to the final product.

  • One of the key components to our approach is the notion of non-disruptive integration. We believe that innovations must be non-disruptive to existing commercial infrastructure. By adapting our technology to be compatible with existing industry standards we are ensuring that Gii can be utilised to its fullest capabilities.

We’re constantly striving to create innovative and accessible options for our clients whilst considering ease of use at every step.  Non- disruptive integration methods designed for existing frameworks paired with the desirable properties of Gii has positioned Integrated Graphene as a leader of sustainable product development for the future.

  • Ten years after the discovery of graphene at University of Manchester in 2004, IG founders Claus Marquordt and Dr Marco Caffio began work on a novel graphene product to address the cost and repeatability issues inherent in all graphene manufacturing processes. Despite being heralded as the newest wonder material, graphene, in practice, was incredibly challenging to commercialise successfully. This prompted the pair to develop a scalable, on demand, 3D material with the properties of graphene, which we now know as Gii.

After successfully developing a novel manufacturing process for Gii in 2016, Integrated Graphene has undergone rapid expansion to accommodate our clients’ requirements.

  • The first high-impact market IG chose is diagnostics, where Gii-Sens™ enables access to measurable health data at the point of need.

The second high-impact market is energy storage, where our battery-life extending Gii-Cap technology aims to reduce the number of wasted batteries in IoT devices by 80%. This means 13 billion batteries NOT being produced nor ending up in landfill. That is over a million tonnes of CO2 saved!
