Sensor + Test 2023: Product Manager, Saima Nisar, on Gii’s gas and pressure sensing capabilities

During the past few years working with the gas and pressure sensing industry, I’ve noticed something interesting about its approach to innovation.

When it comes to the development of new materials, gas and pressure sensing is much more hesitant in its approach compared to the wider material science and technology sector.

This reluctance to innovate has largely been due to lengthy development timelines and certification approvals. But with the global gas sensor market to reach $3.2bn by 2030*, now’s the time to bring forward scalable, highly conductive & sensitive materials to meet demands and bring much needed development.

From 9 - 11 May, I will be attending the Sensor + Test Conference in Nuremberg. Taking part allows me to connect with old and new contacts within the industry to discuss Integrated Graphene’s Gii™ technology’s potential to revolutionise gas and pressure sensing.

Previous research has highlighted graphene’s promise within the sector**. Due to the 3D structure of our Gii technology, it offers even greater reactivity and sensitivity to gas than graphene’s traditional 2D structure.

Integrated Graphene’s products have already had great impact within the biosensing market with their Gii-Sens point of care diagnostic materials. What distinguishes Gii-Sens from other point of care tests is an ability to provide quantitative data as opposed to simply Positive/Negative results. Similar methods can be applied to measure levels of gas through Gii.

Some early data conducted alongside The National Physical Laboratory indicates we are on our way to making an impactful, promising and long-term initiation into two well established markets. I am constantly impressed by how Gii’s flexibility allows it to be used in a variety of settings and provide much needed solutions to a multitude of industries, achieving consistently strong academic research results.
