What is Gii™?

Chances are, you have heard of Gii’s ‘sister’ graphene. Well, Gii is scalable, commercially available and exhibits properties that were promising in graphene including its conductivity properties for a vast range of applications.

  • Gii is produced using our novel, patented manufacture method that is scalable and designed for large scale manufacture of commercial quantities.

    Gii technology is growing Gii directly on any substrate without any binders, inks or harmful chemicals. All this at ambient pressure, temperature and in seconds. Gii already comes in a way that is easily and cost-effectively able to integrate with the final product. “Just add Gii”.

    It is not produced from CVD single layer graphene or powder and therefore, has none of the associated supply chain limitations. Likewise, our novel material cannot be said to be glassy carbon nor carbon amorphous.  

  • Our unique, patented manufacturing process can be performed on most substrates and is a sustainable method which allows for shortened lead times. You can further attribute our shortened lead times to our unique, agile working practices whereby we can amend standard designs to fit your specific development specifications.  

  • One of the most common difficulties faced with generic graphene is the use of toxic chemicals in the manufacturing process. Conversely, there are zero chemicals used in the production of Gii.  Gii is as clean and pure as it gets.

  • We have not yet found evidence to show that Gii™ is susceptible to oxidative environments, unlike graphene.  

  • Gii can be produced on almost any substrate and crucially, in commercial quantities.

  • Unlike graphene, Gii’s manufacturing process creates little waste resulting in an efficient material applicable to a wide variety of fields. Gii is a tool with the capacity to shift the thinking away from accepting the status quo towards accessible and impactful testing for a plethora of applications.

  • The scale of Gii’s electrochemically active surface area is unparalleled, the Gii manufacturing process is also intrinsically repeatable which leads to a low total error of the Gii product. This results in superior sensitivity due to the absence of polymer binders. Gii also offers a desirable combination of both strength and flexibility. 

  • Besides the high electrochemically active surface area, high repeatability and high specific conductivity, Gii has an Field Effect Transistor (FET) effect, Triboelectric properties, Magnetic Hall effect as well as excellent thermal conductivity properties. It appears that the combination of Gii properties is completely novel and unlike others available.

What is Gii-Sens™?

The Industry Challenge

Test results from laboratory diagnostic testing takes too long when rapid action is required, for example, emergency triage, and is an inconvenient and slow way to monitor long-term, chronic conditions. The difficulties of current point-of-care diagnostics are twofold: existing point-of-care instruments have the required speed and accuracy but are still too bulky and costly. Additionally, home tests produce capricious results which can be attributed to the complexity of protocols. Combined with an increase in demand for health care, this results in a crisis whereby resources are overstretched to breaking point.  

Our Solution

Gii-Sens is Integrated Graphene’s pre-validated electrochemical electrode. They are disposable sensors that allow for one-step assays without the need for pre-treatments. By integrating Gii into our Gii-Sens electrodes we have enhanced reproducibility and sensitivity compared with screen-printed options. 

As well as Gii-Sens, we also offer pre-validated Gii-Sens⁺, our pre-functionalised Gii-Sens.

What is Gii-Cap™?

Gii-Cap enables batteries to live for the entire IoT device lifetime of 10-20 years.

Gii technology is a multifaceted tool which can be utilised across a wide range of industries. Currently, an exciting new supercapacitor Gii-Cap™ is in development. By generating short bursts of energy, Gii-Cap has the capacity to half the battery size and extend its life by 5-10 times, making battery changes in IoT products an issue of the past.

Gii can enable more sustainable and economical use of resources. It is our aim to reduce battery waste by millions of batteries a year through smarter systems enhanced by Gii-Cap

We are not only pioneering supercapacitors but also novel smart labels, IOT systems, occupational sensors as well as pressure sensors and even high-power renewable energy generation using Gii’s extraordinary triboelectric effect.

The vast demand for the properties that Gii offers in the medical diagnostic space, Internet of Things (IoT), energy storage as well as gas sensing, pressure sensing, environmental testing and more has created a diverse portfolio. Currently, Integrated Graphene’s flagship product, the Gii-Sens electrochemical electrode is available to purchase in a pristine/untreated and pre-functionalised format. Thanks to Gii’s high specific surface area, Gii-Sens, increases sensitivity and repeatability by more than 10 times compared to incumbent sensing materials and consistently outperforms noble metal alternatives. 

Our multifaceted team have many years of experience in both R&D and industry. This extensive expertise in the in-vitro diagnostics (IVD) and point of care (POC) sectors equips us to provide superior functionality through the integration of our Gii technology. We develop innovative lab-on-a-chip tests by translating existing methods (ELISA, PCR & RT-PCR) into streamlined quantitative assays suitable for the point of need.  

Our testing has the potential to work with a variety of molecules such as proteins, and DNA and has the capacity to perform immunoassays. Thanks to Gii’s pure and high specific surface area, Gii-Sens, is far superior to current, incumbent sensing materials.
